Joining Up with the United Way to Support our Communities
Throughout the entire month of November, our Strathmore McDonald’s location has been working towards their plan to make an impact on their community. Within the restaurant, they have been giving away five-dollar coupons to guests each time they make a donation of five dollars or more in support of the United Way. This promotion has been going on since the beginning of November where all of the funds raised go directly back into the community through the town’s Family and Community Support Services organization.
The idea was born when crew in our restaurant recognized that while there are many organizations that support families throughout Alberta, many of the programs that provide them with funding often do not get distributed exclusively to their town. The team found that this was their opportunity to make a difference. By working in partnership with the Family and Community Support Services organization of Strathmore, the funds from the program will be distributed to the different organizations that provide assistance to families across the town.
In addition to the five-dollar program, on November 21, 2018, our restaurant hosted its third annual United for Strathmore event. Throughout this event, one dollar from every Big Mac, Happy Meal and coffee was donated through the United Way in support of the communities of Strathmore. During the event, members of the United Way Calgary and Area joined us in our restaurant by joining us behind the counter to help us provide an exceptional experience for our guests throughout the event. Other members of the community that joined us in our store include Councillor Lorraine Bauer, Dave Hanni from Strathmore Now and other members of Strathmore’s local media.
As we host this event each year, we are excited to say that we continue to see an increased level of engagement from the community and our neighbouring businesses. Our belief is that through the continued hosting of these events and through featuring these causes on our social channels we can make a tangible impact on our guests lives in Strathmore. We cannot wait to see what November 2019 will bring.
